Pay: $70,000 – $100,000/year + bonus + cell phone allowance
LINX is hiring a Network Cabling Estimator to support our commercial construction bid team, paying $70,000 to $100,000 a year depending on experience. This is a hands-on entry into estimating: you’ll learn to price structured cabling projects across corporate offices, healthcare facilities, K-12 and higher education campuses, and other commercial environments, working directly under senior estimators who will teach you the trade.
You don’t need years of estimating experience to apply. You need 1-2 years estimating network cabling work, a sharp eye for reading drawings and specs, and the discipline to keep multiple live bids organized without dropping details. This is a training-forward role built for someone who wants to grow into a senior estimating career at a national low voltage contractor.
Where This Role Fits at LINX
LINX’s estimating career path:
Estimator → Senior Estimator → Estimating Manager.
This is the entry point. Estimators who perform well take on larger, more complex bids and move toward the Senior Estimator level as they build a track record.
What You’ll Be Doing
Cost Estimation & Bid Support
- Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for network cabling systems, including materials, labor, and expenses like travel, parking, and tooling
- Support the development of bid proposals in alignment with project budgets and timelines
Scope & Documentation Analysis
- Review project schedules, drawings, and specifications to understand the scope of work
- Identify and document project requirements under the guidance of senior estimators
- Create a Scope of Work document for customer clarity and for the Operations team to build from
Vendor & Supplier Coordination
- Obtain pricing from vendors for materials and equipment
- Build and maintain supplier relationships that support competitive pricing
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with sales, project managers, and engineers to ensure estimates meet project needs
- Provide clear, organized documentation for every estimate and related file
Learning & Development
- Stay current on industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in network cabling
- Participate in training and mentorship with senior estimators to build toward the next level
Minimum Requirements
Required
- 1-2 years of experience estimating network cabling projects
- Strong foundational knowledge of network cabling systems, materials, and installation practices (copper and fiber cabling and pathways)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam Revu or a similar takeoff tool
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Ability to manage multiple projects and estimates and keep details organized separately
This Role Is Probably Not Right For You If
- You want to work independently on full bids from day one without oversight — this role is built around learning from senior estimators
- You’re looking for a field installation role — this is an office-based estimating position, not hands-on cabling work
Preferred — Not Required
- Associate’s Degree in Construction Management, Telecommunications, or a related field
- 1 year of structured cabling industry/field experience
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $70,000 – $100,000/year
Bonus: Performance-based bonus opportunities available
Benefits:
- 401(k) with 50% employer match up to first 5%
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA and/or HSA options
- Short and long-term disability coverage
- 3 weeks PTO (vacation and sick combined)
- 8 paid holidays
- Cell phone allowance
- Career growth opportunities into Senior Estimator and beyond
