Pay: $28.00 – $35.00/hour

LINX is hiring a Low Voltage Lead Technician to run crews of 5 or more technicians on hyperscale data center cabling projects, paying $28.00 to $35.00 an hour. If you have experience leading crews of low voltage technicians and giving them their daily duties, this is the role for you.

This is a working lead role, not a desk job. You’re still terminating cable and running Fluke tests alongside your crew, but you’re also the one setting the day’s goals, tracking progress, and answering to the Project Foreman and Project Superintendent when the schedule is on the line. LINX builds structured cabling infrastructure inside hyperscale data centers and mission critical facilities, and this role is a direct step on the path to Foreman and Superintendent.

Where This Role Fits at LINX

Technician I → Technician II → Technician III → Lead Technician → Foreman → Superintendent → Project Manager → Senior Project Manager → Program Manager →  Operations Manager

What You’ll Be Doing

Crew Leadership & Daily Execution

  • Supervise and direct the daily work of 5 or more technicians on active hyperscale data center cabling projects
  • Plan site manpower needs and manage material and labor flow through job completion
  • Set daily crew objectives, track progress against the schedule, and report status to the Project Foreman and Project Manager
  • Enforce HR, safety, and company policy on site while keeping crews on pace to meet project deadlines

Installation & Testing

  • Terminate jacks, patch panels, and 66/110 blocks to 568A/B color code standards
  • Test and certify copper and coax runs using Fluke DSX-600/8000 cable certifiers, and verify fiber links with an OTDR
  • Install and configure switches, routers, modems, and wireless access points
  • Run and terminate category cable and coax (RG6, RG11, RG59), and build out telecom and IT closets
  • Operate Hilti powder actuated tools, hammer drills, and band saws safely on active job sites

Account & Customer Coordination

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for account coordination, including direct customer interaction and issue resolution
  • Prepare and communicate status reports that keep customers and the Project Manager informed in real time

Quality, Safety & Documentation

  • Maintain technical, quality, and profitability standards on every project to ensure top level customer satisfaction
  • Keep accurate, efficient timesheets and job documentation

Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on low voltage or structured cabling experience, including 1+ year experience leading and delegating to a crew of 5 or more technicians
  • Proficient reading and interpreting blueprints, and able to manage project planning end to end
  • Ability to terminate jacks, patch panels, and 66/110 blocks to 568A/B color code standards
  • Hands-on experience with Fluke cable testers (DSX-600/8000 series) to verify connections and troubleshoot voice and data issues
  • Ability to install and configure switches, routers, modems, and wireless access points
  • Experience running category cable, coax (RG6, RG11, RG59), and fiber; comfortable building out telecom and IT closets
  • Ability to operate Hilti powder actuated tools, hammer drills, band saws, and standard low voltage power tools
  • Must own a complete set of personal low voltage hand tools (snips, strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches); specialty tools provided
  • Ability to lift, carry, and set up a 50 pound box or ladder
  • Available to work 2nd or 3rd shift, overtime, and under deadline pressure as hyperscale project schedules require
  • Must pass a 7 year criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and physical
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • Professional working proficiency in English, written and verbal

This Role Is Probably Not Right For You If

  • You don’t have hands-on experience terminating jacks, patch panels, and 66/110 blocks or running Fluke certification tests in the field
  • Your background is IT supervision or help desk without hands-on structured cabling installation experience
  • You haven’t worked with category cable, coax, and fiber installation or built out a telecom/IT closet from scratch
  • You’ve never led or delegated to a crew, this role is working supervision
