Pay: $90,000 – $120,000/year + bonus + cell phone allowance
LINX is hiring a Hyperscale Data Center Estimator paying $90,000 to $120,000 a year to build accurate, detailed bids for mission-critical data center construction projects. You’ll estimate structured cabling scopes for hyperscale environments where precision matters and an error in a multimillion-dollar bid costs real money and real credibility.
This isn’t an entry-level estimating seat. You already know how to price high-density fiber optic cabling systems, you’re comfortable reading complex data center construction drawings, and you understand what makes hyperscale and mission-critical work different from standard commercial estimating: tighter tolerances, bigger cable counts, and clients who expect flawless documentation.
Where This Role Fits at LINX
LINX’s estimating career path:
Estimator → Senior Estimator → Estimating Manager.
What You’ll Be Doing
Cost Estimation
- Develop comprehensive, accurate cost estimates for network cabling systems on hyperscale data center projects, including materials, labor, travel, tooling, and other expenses
- Prepare detailed bid proposals aligned with project budgets and client expectations
Document Analysis
- Review and interpret project drawings and specifications to assess full scope of work
- Identify project requirements and constraints, keeping every estimate clear and defensible
Vendor & Supplier Coordination
- Collaborate with vendors to secure competitive pricing on materials and equipment
- Evaluate supplier proposals for quality and compliance with project standards
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with sales, project managers, engineers, and design teams to keep estimates aligned with project and company goals
- Report clearly on cost estimates, revisions, and project changes
Risk Management
- Identify potential risks and challenges in cabling projects and propose mitigations
- Build contingency planning into cost estimates to account for unforeseen variables
Minimum Requirements
Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in cost estimation, with a focus on network cabling and data center infrastructure
- Minimum 1 year experience estimating high-density fiber optic cables of 3,456 and above
- In-depth understanding of network cabling systems, including structured cabling, fiber optics, copper cabling, and pathways
- Familiarity with hyperscale data center environments and mission-critical operations
- Knowledge of power, cooling, and cable management systems in data centers
- Advanced skills in estimation software such as Excel, Bluebeam, and Procore
- Ability to analyze complex technical drawings and specifications
- Strong mathematical and financial modeling skills for cost estimation
- Proven track record estimating large-scale or hyperscale infrastructure projects
This Role Is Probably Not Right For You If
- You’ve only estimated small commercial projects — this role requires hyperscale-data center accuracy and volume
- You’re looking for a field role — this is an office-based, detail-intensive estimating seat, not hands-on installation
Preferred — Not Required
- Competence in CAD/Revit software for reviewing layouts and designs
- BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) or DCDC (Data Center Design Consultant) certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Telecommunications, or a related field
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $90,000 – $120,000/year
Bonus: Performance-based bonus opportunities available
- 401(k) with 50% employer match up to first 5%
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance with FSA and/or HSA options
- Short and long-term disability coverage
- 3 weeks PTO (vacation and sick combined)
- 8 paid holidays
- Cell phone allowance
- Career growth opportunities into Senior Estimator and beyond
