Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Installation and Termination:
- Install fiber optic cables, including underground and overhead installations.
- Prepare and terminate fiber optic cables using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Perform splicing of fiber optic cables as needed for project completion.
- Ensure all installations meet industry standards and LINX quality requirements.
- Troubleshooting and Testing:
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber optic cable installations.
- Conduct testing of fiber optic cables using tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
- Document test results and ensure they meet project specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, tests, and troubleshooting activities
- Supervision and Training:
- Supervise and manage fiber optic technicians and other team members.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members on fiber optic installation, termination, splicing, troubleshooting, and testing.
- Ensure that team members follow all safety protocols and industry standards.
- Monitor the performance of team members and provide feedback to improve skills and efficiency
- Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Adhere to project schedules and deadlines.
- Assist in planning and organizing tasks to optimize workflow and efficiency
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Participate in safety training and meetings as required.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 3 years experience in fiber optic cable installation, termination, splicing and testing.
- Proficiency in using fiber optic testing equipment, such as OTDRs, power meters and light sources.
- Certification in fiber optic technology (e.g., FOA CFOT) is preferred.
- Familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to supervise, manage, and train other team members.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to ensuring quality and safe installation practices.
- Must be able to work on ladders and use power tools; ability to lift/carry/setup a 50 pound box or ladder
- Must own low voltage tools, snips, cable strippers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.
- Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift and overtime as needed; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Must pass 7 year criminal background check and pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and current automobile insurance
- High School diploma, or equivalent
Pay Rate:
$30.00 – $40.00/hour

This role involves working on various projects to ensure high-quality and efficient fiber optic network installations. The Fiber Specialist also supervises, manages, and trains other team members in fiber optic technologies and best practices, ensuring that all work meets industry standards and LINX quality requirements.
